Things Are Looking Up

My last post was kind of complainy.  Sorry about that.

Just like the Beatles said, I must admit things are getting better, getting better all the time!

Last Sunday, we were hanging out at Nathan's Mom's house for Sunday dinner, and we got a wonderful call from my Mom and Dad informing us that they had decided to let us get a puppy!  You might wonder why this was their decision- it's because they are owners of the house that we are renting.  Earlier this summer, we got a puppy without asking their permission, and it didn't go over to well.  But with a major apology and some time between then and now, they decided that a puppy would be ok after all.  And to sweeten the deal, they covered a good chunk of the puppy price as a birthday present to Nathan.  He knew exactly which puppy he wanted- he'd been watching the KSL ads ever since we had to return our last little pup.  So Sunday night, we drove up to Clinton, UT and Sir Samson Spektor joined our little family!

He is a long haired mini dachshund puppy and as of Oct. 1, he was 9 weeks old.  He is tan with brown "dapple" markings and he has bright blue eyes. He loves sleeping, playing with his favorite duck, and is getting pretty good at peeing on his puppy pads.  

Our precious guinea pig Gloria just had a birthday too!  Happy 3 years, little pig! 

And as for the noise upstairs, Uncle Jeff got a fantastic early birthday/christmas present- fancy surround sound headphones that are laptop, xbox, tv, and sirius radio compatible!  Now is 80s rock, World of Warcraft, Slasher Movies, and facebook chat sounds go directly into his ears, and not ours.  And his noisy parrot moved from right next to our entry way into the back corner of the house.  The near-silence is incredibly peaceful! 

I feel even more grateful than before for our cute little basement home.  For our loving and attentive landlords.  For our sweet puppy, and our uncle who is mostly fine to live with.  Conference weekend was wonderful.  Early autumn weather is beautiful.  School is in full swing. 

And things are looking up.
